Permanent intervention on location
including book (dutch), mailbox and letters by participants

De Brievenboom (translation: the letter tree) asks city citizens to write a letter to a tree in a forest. The writers can post their letters in a mailbox placed near an old tree in Kralingse Bos (Rotterdam). We use a fictional children’s book to encourage elementary school children to write or draw their own letters. The book tells the story of a young boy who is forced to move from nature to the city. After arriving in the city he starts writing letters to his friend in nature ‘the tree’. The tree receives a large amount of letters during our events and from anonymous passersby.
